About Chris Hourmouzis

Chris Hourmouzis, D.Ch. Chiropodist, is the primary practitioner at Hamilton Family Foot Care Clinic and Just Feet. Chris has been in practice for 29 years. He has a variety of experience in different settings, including being on staff at hospitals and community health centres in Toronto and Hamilton. Chris also worked as a clinical instructor for the Chiropody program at the Michener Institute. He was then placed as a board member for the Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine.

Chris is a third-generation foot specialist, as his grandfather was a custom shoemaker and his father an orthopaedic shoe specialist. Besides being knowledgeable in footwear, Chris took the “next step” to become a licensed foot health practitioner. This experience is passed on in our knowledgeable patient care.

What Is a Chiropodist?

Ker-ah-po’-dist

In Ontario, a chiropodist is a licensed foot care practitioner recognized by the Ministry of Health. Chiropodists are legislated and controlled by a governing body known as the College of Chiropody.

They are primary healthcare professionals who are trained exclusively to assess, treat, and prevent foot disorders. Their education is intensive and advanced that includes the study of anatomy and physiology, pathology, soft tissue surgery, pharmacology, and theoretical and applied biomechanics (the study of human movement and motion).

In Ontario both Chiropodists and Podiatrists are legislated under the Chiropody Act and the College of Chiropody.

Methods of Payment and Insurance Coverage

We are not covered by OHIP, therefore, we are a “fee-for-service” clinic. We accept cash, cheque, debit, MasterCard, and Visa.

Some insurance companies allow us to direct bill for services, we do this on a case by case basis.

If you’re concerned about insurance benefits covering your visit or the products and service we provide, please bring in your benefits book or contact your provider ahead of time to get an idea of what your coverage might be. We cannot do this on your behalf, due to privacy regulations; and only your insurer can tell you what your coverage is.

If needed, we can provide a “predetermination” letter to your insurance company. This letter explains what goods or services we would like to provide, why you need them, and the associated costs.

We are a registered W.S.I.B provider.

We are a Veterans ‘DVA’ provider.

We are authorized providers for people on Social assistance such as Ontario Works (OW), and Disability (ODSP). Services need to be pre-authorized by “Special Supports” program, please contact us and we can explain the process further.
