Foot care
We treat conditions of the skin and nails and pride ourselves at being very gentle.
This can be anything from nail care for someone who has trouble reaching their feet to complex skin conditions.
Thickened or discoloured toenails may be due to fungus in the nails.
We have a number of options when treating fungus from natural anti-fungal products to prescription topical medication. We recommend coming in for an assessment to see which treatment would be best for you and your condition. If your nails are thickened without the presence of fungus, they can be thinned down for you.
Ingrown toenails can be both an acute problem (swollen, painful and infected) to chronic where they are more of a “dull ache” and a nuisance. We can treat both types, however if an area is extremely painful to touch or if you feel that you want the toe “frozen” with anaesthetic we would have to refer you to another practitioner as we are a non-surgical clinic.
Warts, Corns & Callous - When you come to the office with a spot on your skin that you are not sure what it is, we must assess the area to determine if it is a wart, corn, callous or something else. We may reduce the area, generally this is pain free, and determine what it is. Once we know what we are treating there is several options available to us.
With warts, we try to use gentle, natural treatments first, leaving more aggressive treatments later.
Corns are primarily caused by pressure, this could be from the way you walk, a bony prominence or caused by your footwear. Once we determine the cause we can come up with treatment options.
A callous is caused by pressure & friction; we treat the callous to get you comfortable and then determine why you are getting them and come up with a treatment plan.
Bunions & Hammer toes: Without a proper assessment, it is difficult to state what we can do for you from our website, but we do have a number of treatment options for these conditions from premade padding to custom made silicone devices for the toes if needed.
It is always best to come in for an assessment so we can see exactly what the problem is then we can decide what treatment is the best for you.
Shockwave therapy
We have had Shock Wave in our clinic for over 10 years and have found it to be an excellent treatment option for chronic, unrelenting heel pain (heels spurs and Plantarfasciitis). When other treatments have been tried and not been successful, "Shock wave therapy" may be considered. It has a 2-fold effect on plantarfasciitis. Firs the short-term effect gives instant relief; the patient will walk out feeling better. Second, there is a long-term effect where statistically it is shown that after 3 months the heel pain has resolved.
The treatment feels like "poking a bruise" it is uncomfortable, but it is not excruciatingly painful. As the treatment progresses in the body, "auto- anaesthetizes" itself; the are goes numb as the treatment progresses. Normally 3-4 treatments are required, 5-7 days apart. Each foot takes about 5-8 minutes to treat. shockwave therapy has also proven to work well on Achilles tendonitis as well.
Please contact us if you would lie to book an assessment and see if Shock wave therapy is an option to treat your foot pain.
